2021/5/11

ASTM D6413 – This standard specifies the protection levels that garments and fabric must meet when presented with fire upon a vertical flame test.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ASTM D6413 STANDARD CERTIFICATION

TEST METHOD
DESCRIPTION
MINIMUM COMPLIANCE VALUES

ASTM D6413

Each individual layer of the group must be tested separately.
Fabric tags specifying that they must be washed must be tested before and after 100 wash and dry cycles.
The flame exposure time is 12 seconds.
After flame exposure and allowing the fabric to cool, the appropriate weight must be hung to provide the sufficient tear force.

Both the fabric and the reflective tapes used in flame resistant garments must have a charred length of less than or equal to 100 mm (4 inches) as well as a post-incandescence of no more than 2 seconds. The fabric cannot drip or melt. The gas used must be methane.

Tearing force for carbonization length determination
Base weight of the fabric Total tear force
g/m² oz/yd² g oz
68 a 203 2.0 a 6.0 100 4.0
más de 203 a 508 más de 6.0 a 15.0 200 8.0
more than 508 a 780 more than 15.0 a 23.0 300 12.0
more than 780 more than 23.0 475 16.0

The base weight of the fabric refers to the weight of the fabric before adding
any fireproof or coating treatments
